A condition where there is altered sensation (numbness) in the fingers & hand, caused by Median nerve compression in the wrist. Main treatment is surgical release which, if done early enough, can restore sensation. The procedure is quick (around 30 min) and can be done under local anaesthesia, patients often return to work within 2-3 weeks in most cases unless job involves heavy physical work, in which case more time off is required.
