Basall Cell Cancer (BCC) is the most common skin cancer, comes in different types & sizes. most BCC lesions occur in the head and neck area, but are also common on limbs and the rest of the body.
These skin cancers are often only locally invasive- that is they seldom spread into the lymph glands or blood stream. They are also slowly growing and may take years to be detected.
If caught early, some BCC’s are managed non-surgically (often with topical ointments likeAldara & Efudix), however, the majority need surgical treatment for best results. Surgery can often be performed under local anaesthetics in the clinic without needing major hospital theatres but others will still need general anaesthesia because of their size, anatomiclocation, or complexity of the repair procedure.
