Breast Augmentation is one of the most common plastic surgical procedures, indications range from simple enlargement of the breasts, to Mastopexy (breast lift), or for correction of breast asymmetry. Breasts implants are used which come in different sizes & shapes, different fill material and surface coating.
At the consultation a particular size and shape is recommended by the surgeon after taking into account several factors such as the existing breast size & shape, thickness of the skin and body habitus, etc.
Often, the chart -recommended implants would be the best fit & best option to minimise or avoid complications, especially if looking natural is the aim of the patient, although this may not be the size the patient desires.
Operation takes about 2 hrs and often an overnight stay in hospital, return to daily activities within a few days though care should be taken with shoulder movement for 2-3 weeks until implants settle in place.
